Quickstart

Flash the evaluation image from the GraphLab Portal, customize your splash/spinner/status text, and verify the seamless boot experience.


1. Get the evaluation image

Open the GraphLab Portal and download the evaluation image for your supported hardware. The portal also provides the recommended flashing method for your platform.

2. Flash the image

Choose one of the supported flashing paths:

Option A — Online Flash Loader (recommended)

Use the browser-based flash loader directly from the GraphLab Portal. Chromium-based browsers are required for the online flasher.

  1. Connect the target device over USB as instructed in the portal
  2. Launch the Online Flash Loader
  3. Select the evaluation image and start flashing
  4. Boot the device into recovery mode if required
  5. Power-cycle the device when prompted

Option B — Toradex Easy Installer (Verdin showcase platform)

If you are using the GraphLab showcase platform based on the Toradex Verdin module, you can flash the image using Toradex Easy Installer .

  1. Download the evaluation image from the GraphLab Portal
  2. Copy the image to the TEZI media or network source
  3. Boot the device into Toradex Easy Installer
  4. Select the GraphLab evaluation image
  5. Start the installation and wait for completion

3. Customize splash, spinner, and status text (easy path)

The GraphLab Portal is the easiest way to customize your early UX. You can update:

  • Splash image (use templates or upload your own)
  • Spinner design (template-based or custom)
  • Status text mapped to the GraphLab status enum

In the portal, select your device or evaluation image, open Configs, apply your branding, and deploy the configuration.

4. Power-cycle test

  1. Remove power from the board completely
  2. Reconnect power
  3. Observe the display — your splash should appear immediately
  4. Confirm the transition to the Linux UI is smooth (no flicker, no black frame)

5. What “good” looks like

  • Instant first pixel from power-on (display active immediately)
  • Continuous visuals through SPL and kernel boot (no visible reset)
  • Seamless handover when the Linux UI starts rendering
  • Consistent behavior across cold boot, warm boot, and watchdog reset
